Fanny Vicens

Accordion

The accordionist and pianist Fanny Vicens is an award winner of the Fondation Banque Populaire (Paris) and the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation (Stuttgart). Her advanced studies in performance, pedagogy and musicology led her to the Sorbonne University, the Paris Conservatoire Supérieur and the Musikhochschulen of Trossingen, Germany and Luzern, Switzerland.

Fanny has been appearing on international concert platforms since an early age. Her programs and recordings reflect not only her commitment to contemporary music and premieres, but also her lively interest for historically informed performance of the keyboard music the 15th until 18th centuries.

She is a teacher of both these specialties at the ESM Bourgogne Franche-Comté and offers master classes during European academies.

She played accordion concertos by Françaix, Nordheim, Haas, and piano concertos by Mozart, Chostakovitch with orchestras such as the Orchestre de Bretagne, Kammerorchester Pforzheim, Orchestre National de Lorraine and Orchestre de Cannes.

Fanny performs as a chambermusician and has been playing with thirty ensembles worldwide. Some noteworthy are Ensembles Modern, EIC, 2e2m, Soyuz and NEC amongst others.

She premiered new works written by leading composers and by those of her generation with whom she nurtures her thoughts on the sonic identity of the accordion. Fanny is involved in the creation of a rich repertoire with electronics and co-realised the first microtonal accordions in France, appearing in interdisciplinary performances, along with the choreographer Maud le Pladec or in XAMP with Jean-Etienne Sotty. She was an award winner in the Bechstein Piano Competition and the Deutscher Hochschulwettbewerb; her work has also received support from the DAAD, the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg, Mécénat Musical Société Générale and the Fondation Iris Marquardt.
