Singular Conversations

Project

Singular Conversations features two musicians, one from Ensemble Cairn, another originating from the practice of improvised music (jazz or other), during a musical encounter. They construct a musical moment where the two approaches to music, one linked to the score, the other one a digital approach to the instrument, are made to converse, respond to each other, superimpose, transform each other and, in any case, create.

Programme

Current conversations...

Christelle Séry (guitar) / Bruno Chevillon (double bass)

This guitar / bass conversation presents a path from the acoustic treatment of the two instruments (classical guitar / non amplified bass) to an entirely electrified universe (electric guitar, amplified double bass).

Sylvain Lemêtre (percussions) / Thomas Bonvalet (guitar)

Thomas Bonvalet – improviser, ringer of all kinds of objects, founder of Ocelle Mare, performer of improbable electronic music – and Sylvain Lemêtre – multi-instrumentalist, Ensemble Cairn musician and discoverer of diverse universes (jazz, musical theatre, improvisation) – meet around the notion of texture, musical material and immateriality. A few pulsed moments are also to be awaited.

Caroline Cren (piano) / Jozef Dumoulin (piano)

This concert features the encounter of two kinds of keyboards : piano vs Fender Rhodes. Incisive attack of the piano keys versus elusive matter of the Fender Rhodes, but also musical exploration of the piano body (strings, frame, preparations of all kinds) versus glissandi, saturation, programmed sequences that the Fender Rhodes can offer. Jozef Dumoulin, instrumentalist of unlimited inventiveness, is artist in residence at the Petit Faucheux, Tours. Caroline Cren, a musician for Ensemble Cairn of 15 years, creates scores with improbable technique.
